You will find the new Islay Hotel in the fishing village of Port Ellen on the south-east corner of Islay - locally known as the Whisky Coast - just 2 hours by ferry from Kennacraig or 30 minutes by plane from Glasgow. The hotel is by the sea, overlooking the harbour and marina.
The new hotel opened in October 2011. It has been completely rebuilt to a traditional design and to exacting high standards. Quality finishings and attention to detail have created a blend of new and old and a small hotel full of character and atmosphere.
We have thirteen bedrooms, all individually designed with spacious luxury en-suite bathrooms. All our rooms have sea views and free Wi-Fi access. Apart from three bedrooms with king size beds, all our other bedrooms have superking beds, which if required can be converted to a twin. Some of our larger bedrooms can take an additional single bed.

Our widely acclaimed restaurant provides excellent local food, simply prepared and sensibly priced, with breakfast served daily from 7.30am, lunches from 12 noon to 2.30pm and dinners from 6pm to 9pm. We also have fresh coffee, tea and home baking during the day, every day. And it all comes with friendly, attentive service.
The hotel has an interesting bar and a gantry with a bit of history and a wide selection of different whiskies. From the bar you can walk outside into the old courtyard where there are tables and chairs in a sheltered area, where you can enjoy your meal or drink.
We have an open log/peat fire in the restaurant. We have ground source heating, which also provides the hotel's hot water. We have a rainwater harvesting system. We even have a lift.
The new Islay Hotel has been described as "quirky but stylish". You will also find it warm, friendly and relaxing - the perfect location for exploring the island's many whisky distilleries, championship links golf course, unspoilt beaches, wildlife and much, much more.
We have a choice of room sizes - large, medium and small. Our rates per room including breakfast are from £120 to £220 per night. During the whisky festival week in May our rates are £150 to £250 per night. For the whisky festival week and for some periods of our high season we now only have limited availability.
